Newsletters are sent via email and a paper copy is mailed to those who don't have email. Recent issues of both E-News and the newsletters are available on the chapter website.

Summer Fleece Extravaganza

Mark your calendars! Our Summer Fleece Extravaganza will be Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Noland Road Baptist Church (NRBC) in Independence, MO. Come for all or part of the day. Thanks go to Beth Whorton for arranging for us to have this blanket day at NRBC.

This fun blanket day will be an opportunity to make several different types of fleece blankets: braided edge, crocheted edging, faux rag style, bunny ears and fringed on 2 or 4 edges. More details will be in a special newsletter in early June.

Six hours is enough time to make 2 or 3 or more fleece blankets. We have a lot of donated fleece to use. You are invited to bring either 1 yard of fleece for a toddler blanket or 1 1/3 yards of fleece for a child/teen blanket so we can make even more blankets.

Blankets for Autism Blanket Day

Don't forget. The Cass County, MO/Johnson & Wyandotte Counties, KS Chapter of Project Linus is having a blanket day to make weighted blankets for children with autism on June 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Complete details are in the April newsletter.

The event will be covered by the media. Some parents of children that need these blankets will be there with fabric, but don't sew. It would be nice to have a good turnout for this event. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Patty Gregory at to let her know as soon as possible.

In Conclusion

Undoubtedly, many of you are enjoying the warmer weather and thinking about summer vacations. I'm heading to Albuquerque next week for the Fiber Arts Fiesta and my annual visit with my dear friend, Wanda, and her family. I plan to work on some blankets while I'm there.

Thank you to each and every one of you for all you do for Project Linus and the children of the greater Kansas City area. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions about Project Linus, please let me know.
